Meet the Artist

Debra was introduced to the techniques of Fused Glass in 2018, and fell in love with the diversity of the medium. A resident of Bainbridge Island for the past 12 years, she has found her next calling as a Glass Artist. She continues to hold down a full-time job as a small business owner, and spends her off time traveling, and expanding on her knowledge in the world of kiln formed glass. What started as a hobby is quickly becoming a small business, as folks appreciate and seek out her creations.

Debra grew up in Toledo, Ohio, at the time when it was the Glass Capital of the World, her father was a graphic artist at Libby Glassware in his 20's, so there must be some kismet here. She has always loved Glass Art, and has sought out galleries to view while out on travels throughout the world. Her adventures in travel can be seen in many of the pieces she creates, recreating the essence of those adventures. She considers it an honor to develop the artistic skills of melding art and science together to create wonderful pieces using Handmade Art Glass and Upcycled Glass. Her Upcycled pieces of repurposing Lanterns to works of Art, creating Upcycled Sculptures that appear to be fluid with water like texture, and the multi-stage process of sand blast carving, painting and gilding glass with the technique of Verre'Eglomise®.

Continually learning from teachers near and far, gives her the opportunity to create a variety of art pieces for Home Decor, Yard Art, and Dynamic Serve-ware/Functional Art for everyday and entertainment use. Kevin DeLashmutt, Debra's husband, joined in the joy of creating Kiln Formed Glass Art and they now co-create pieces, including Custom Metal Stands in their design offerings.
